Chi Kiu So (aka Jack So)

Many years ago, I frequently visited a local nursing home to see my father-in-law, and the sights, sounds, and emotions I experienced there continue to inspire this work. This work was selected to exhibit in the 199th Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition (2025). link to video

This work won the First place winner of Hong Kong Liberty Art Prize 2023. It was exhibited in various locations including Japan, Finland, Taiwan and South Korea. It also appeared on a Japanese TV channel, Times Square billboard and on Dalí Museum website.

Autographs who were related to Treaty of Nanking. This work has been exhibited in Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum for 3 months.

This work is composed of 8 Hong Kong governors autographs and was exhibited in Skipton Town Hall.

It is called "The Red Sun" with the Mao figure in the centre, but the sun part is the Japanese military silk flag during WWII, I think Mao is cooperating with Japanese at that time and he extended the "legacy" of Japanese rule afterward, in this case the far left was originated from far right, it is an irony, so I came up with this idea. Dimension is 38 x 29 inches, material is Silk like textiles. This work has been exhibited in Colonnade House Gallery, Worthing.

Leeds Grant Theatre has "Name a Seat" fundraising event for its 145 anniversary. I donated 145 pounds for naming a seat which is supposed to carve donor own name. I found that this plate is not permanent, it will be removed five years later, that means the plate will be expired. So I decided to put the expiry date of this plate instead of my name on the plate. The existence of this plate is purely for memorizing its own expiry date. This work is called "The Expiry Date of an Expiry Date".
